I’ve always been a big fan of simplicity and naturality when it comes to makeup and this is something that I learned years ago from my guru: Bobbi Brown. Some days ago I heard she is leaving her makeup brand by the end of 2016.

She is a professional makeup artist who became well known for her natural approach in contrast with the bright colors used during 80’s and 90’s. She was an example of an enterpreneur woman: released her own brand together with a chemist and was successful.

I can remember the first time I went to her makeup store: I was seventeen and had some clues on makeup, but wanted to learn more of this amazing world full of possibilities. That was when I found out that her lipsticks  and foundations would be part of my whole life. She has used real women as models since she started her career, something that caught my attention from the very beginning, as she was showing the inner beauty and strong points of each women: this is the aim of makeup.

Here is a list of my favorite products:

-Stick foundation and compact foundation: I love their natural coverage and texture. They hide imperfections without looking heavy on my face and last the whole day.

-All her lipsticks: really creamy and smooth.

Blushes: their texture is smooth and blend perfectly. They are really pigmented and last all day and night.

Shimmer Brick: I’ve loved it for years! I apply it on top of my cheekbones to give a nice glow.

Eyeshadow in Charcoal and eyeliner brush: I mix it with some water and create my own eyeliner with a natural twist for every day.

-Long-wear gel eyeliner: highly pigmented and waterproof.

Corrector and concealers: creamy and moisted. With different neutral shades and perfect coverage.

Beauty Blusher by Beauty Blender

Beautyblender is a makeup icon to apply foundation, now I’ve been using this little one to apply just the right amount of blush on my cheeks.

This sponge is the perfectect size for precise blush in cream, liquid or powder. I’ve also used it to apply concealer and it works great!

I recommend it 100 %!

Winter trends

     img_20161127_120606     img_20161130_182743

For this season we have many options: from nude to glittery, depending if we want to get a natural look for casual days or more intense for special nights out. I love matching eyeshadows and lips with nail polishes, so I choose a similar colour.

BURGUNDY AND PLUM

Get inspiration in grape and wine colours! to me the sexiest together with red lips. I prefer to leave the rest of the face fresh and natural, just with the mascara and a blush which fits the lipstick tone.

BACK TO CLASSICS: RED AND GOLD

I love the classical Chanel look with golden eyeshadow and red matte rouge for special ocasions. These festive days are a great chance to try these colours,  but I always prefer them with a natural twist.

SMOKEY AND GOTHIC

The key with gothic look and smokey eyes is pointing out the eyes and use a nude lipstick. Smokey eyeshadows can be more natural in grey or brown shades during daytime and blacker at night. Here are some ideas and steps for your looks:

GO NATURAL

I love autumn colours and all its shades: bronze, beige, brown… I always use my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, it’s got great pigmentation and it is easy to blend.

Affordable makeup

Here are some brands that I like and which are very affordable for makeup lovers

KIKO MILANO

Since it appeared in the market I’m in love with its products. The stores are like little makeup supermarkets where you can find all types of shades, blushes or nail polishes among other things. The best to me: their lipsticks and glosses, the nail polishes with gel effect in coral colours are amazing and the eyeliners.

DEBORAH MILANO

One of my favourite!  I love the lipstick tones, very moisturising and the pigmented bronzers. I like Red Shine lipstick  as it gives a very natural look with wet effect, it also has SPF 15 and argan oil which help my lips in winter.

NYX COSMETICS

Everybody is writing reviews about this brand but it’s for a good reason: quality and price. The eyeshadow palettes are unique, with hundreds of combinations and wearable tones. My number one is the Runway palette, very pigmented and combining matte and glittery shades. I also love the blushes for everyday life and their butter glosses in Tiramisu, Creme Brulé and Peach and Cream.

MUA COSMETICS

One of the most affordable brands and at the same time very good quality products. I love its pigmented eyeshadow palettes with multiple combinations. I would definitely recommend it!

CHRYSALIS EYE SHADOW PALETTE

I follow Kat von D as a tattoo lover but her makeup line is amazing! I fell in love with this palette the first time I saw the packaging: inspired on butterflies. Its colours are great for brunettes with mediterranean skin tones like mine: subtle and electrical at the same time. It contains 12 cool tones: purple, violet, navy, pearl mauve… some mettalic and a few matte. All of them with awesome pigmentation.

TATOO LINER TROOPER

It’s precise and easy to use. I tried it to go out and stayed all night, so the formula is perfect. It is an intense black liner.

LOCK-IT CONCEALER

Creamy and blendable at the same time, very pigmented and resistant. It hides my dark circles and blemishes with a flawless finish.

SHADE AND LIGHT CONTOUR PALETTE

I’m not into contouring technique as I prefer natural makeup, but I must say that once I tried it and I saw it on my face I loved it.The powders are super fine and pigmented at the same time. It gives a healthy look at the skin without being fake. It suits all skin tones as there is a variety of subtle shades.

My perfumes

Romance by Ralph Lauren it’s a classical. My all time favourites, femenine and emotional. Created when I was 19, it brings into my mind these special moments of my youth 😍 It’s floral, woody and aromatic, with a clear, transparent and simple packaging

Chance Eau Fraîche by Chanel. Once I got into this perfume I never left it! It’s a wonderful perfume with different twists. Fresh, clean and with a special smell, with a lot of personality.

Bright Crystal by Versace. I fell in love with it some years ago. It made me feel strong, confident and glamorous. It’s fresh and floral, even tropical, but with a subtle mixture.

Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler. I always thought Mugler’s perfumes where too strong for me…and suddenly I found this cologne! It is a fresh unisex perfume for every day. It smells fruity and fresh. I never have enough of it!

Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana. Even if it’s meant to be a fresh freagrance, it is everything but light as its long-lasting scent remains in my skin and clothes for hours! I just love its scent: fresh, woody and fruity.

Floral Touch by Tous. Its design is the first that caught my attention, but the best is inside! Created by the perfumist Sophie Labbé, it’s a floral fragrance that captures perfectly well the balance between sweet and fresh, without being too sticky.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs. The best packaging I’ve seen in my life! I discovered it living in England. It made me feel happy on rainy days! Just looking at the bottle made me smile…it’s way cute! It is easy to wear, simple, classical, fresh and young.

The One Perfume by Dolce & Gabbana. I’ve never been into perfumes… I always prefer eau de toilette, but this is an exception. In fact I love all Dolce & Gabbana perfumes! What I love the most is its long-lasting scent, without being sticky. It leaves a subtle smell, very personal.

CRAZY ABOUT MAKEUP!

First of all let me apologize for any  possible language mistakes! I am a common girl from Barcelona who teaches English and History and who also loves advising normal people how to look like a super model! just kidding…

My name is Sara. So what am I doing here talking about all this stuff?!

Well I love arts and writing, so here I am mixing my two passions. I consider makeup as an ART. I’ve been into makeup since I was a teen with spots to be covered,  little by little I’ve been improving my experience with loads of curiosity, research, lessons and with self discipline.

I would like to bring my experience to regular women who care about their appearance but who don’t have a clue where to start from and want to keep it simple and natural. I also want to help teens to go through this difficult acne and insecurities time and men who want to look hot!

I hope to be helpful and also learn from all of you too!

img_20161103_155845 These are some of my “essentials”:

MAC “Girl about town” and Chanel rouge, The Balm Mary Loumanizer to highlight cheekbones, Too faced “Better than sex” mascara: amazing eyelashes. Also Too faced “Shadow insurance” lid primer. Kat von D black eyeliner for those who want to create cat eyes without failing! Bobbi Brown products, of course! Eyeshadows: the one and only “Naked 1, 2 and 3” from Urban Decay; Dior‘s pigmented palettes and Estée Lauder awsome shades
